Artist Bio / Statement

I am a sculptor and educator working primarily with glass, plaster, and processes of casting, molding, and transformation. After nearly two decades teaching glass and sculpture at The Crucible in Oakland, California, I returned to Alfred to pursue my MFA in Glass Sculpture and continue developing my studio practice.

My work is rooted in a curiosity about materials, process, and the objects we create to hold meaning. I am interested in vessels, architecture, ritual, and the ways that light and form can create a sense of presence.

The Aureole series is a gathering of luminous vessels exploring transparency, color, and the relationship between object and architecture. Inspired by the qualities of medieval stained glass, devotional objects, and sacred structures, these sculptures combine transparent glass forms with plaster architectural bases. The works consider the vessel as a place of holding - something capable of containing light, memory, and transformation.

Through pattern, obscurity, and illumination, the sculptures invite contemplation while remaining abstract and open to interpretation.
